The diplomatic passport of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was cancelled by Bangladesh’s interim government on Thursday.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Home Affairs, ‘Individuals such as former Prime Ministers, their advisors, former ministers, and all members of the dissolved parliament were eligible for diplomatic passports due to their positions. Nevertheless, if they are removed from office or retire, their diplomatic passports, including those of their spouses, should be annulled”.

“To obtain a regular passport, the aforementioned individuals need approval from two security agencies for their application to be processed” stated by the ministry.
