In a late-night operation based on special intelligence, police have recovered an unregistered firearm from a vehicle abandoned by its occupants in the Amha Simsar jungle area of Barahkshetra Municipality, Ward No. 05.

According to the District Police Office, a team deployed from the Bharoul Police Post was conducting a routine check around 12:50 AM when a black car (registration number Ba.6 Cha 8403), traveling from Dharan towards Kalabanjar, abruptly stopped upon spotting the police. The driver and approximately 4–5 passengers immediately fled into the jungle, leaving the vehicle behind.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, authorities discovered an unloaded rifle marked WEBLEY & SCOTT LIT LONDON & BIRMINGHAM, MADE IN ENGLAND on the middle seat. No ammunition was found at the scene.

Police have since seized the vehicle and the weapon, transporting both to the Area Police Office in Mahendranagar for further investigation. A search operation is currently underway to locate the absconding individuals.

Authorities suspect potential illegal possession and transport of firearms and are treating the case with high priority.
