The Khumbu-Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu has provided financial Compensation to flood victims. An amount of 50,000 rupees from municipality and 15,000 rupees from District Disaster Relief Committee, total amount is RS. 65,000 said by chairman of National Concerns Committee Sonam Sherpa.

“Flood carrying silt from the Thame River caused extensive damage in the village yesterday, affecting houses, schools, and the health post. Twenty structures, including private homes, hotels, schools, and the health post, were damaged. The village has been transformed into a sandbank and is no longer fit for living. As a result, MP Sherpa has directed the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority to conduct further assessments. The flood has displaced 100 people.”

This morning, during an aerial observation by helicopter, it was found that the smallest of the four glacial lakes in the area had burst, according to Sonam Sherpa.
