Due to the rapid spread of monkey pox virus in the neighboring country, India. it has been indicated that there is risk of virus in Nepal. Since a 60-year-old foreign woman was infected with monkeypox in Nepal last year, it is not correct to say that Nepal is entirely devoid of the risk of monkeypox infection said by ministry of health and population spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki.
To prevention from its ministry has consulted with the experts. ministry has mandated federal, province and local government to oversee health desks at transportation hubs and borders crossing, and as well as keep eyes on communication disease by Dr. Prakash Budhathoki.
Transmission
Mpox can be spread through contact with an infected person or infected animals. This includes contact with the person’s sores, blisters, or scabs; body fluids such as saliva or pus; infected animals like monkeys, rodents, or squirrels; and contaminated bedding or clothing.
Sign and Symptoms
Mpox causes signs and symptoms which usually begin within a week but can start 1–21 days after exposure. Symptoms typically last 2–4 weeks but may last longer in someone with a weakened immune system.
Common symptoms of mpox are:
- rash
- fever
- sore throat
- headache
- muscle aches
- back pain
- low energy
- swollen lymph nodes.
