Initiation of Shora Sharad begins on Ashwin Krishna Pratipada, starting from Ashoj 2.

Shora Sharad refers to the Priti Paksha, which begins on Krishna Pratipada and ends on Ashwin Shukla Pratipada.

Shora Sharad consists of 16 tithis, during which ‘Tarpan,’ Shidha Dan, and Pinda Dan are respectfully offered to the Pitree.

If the Shraddha rites cannot be performed during the specified time, they can be conducted on the day of Kartik Krishna Amavasya, which is also known as Lakshmi Puja. If that is also not possible, the rites can be carried out during the Scorpio Sankranti, which occurs in Mangsir, as mentioned in the religious scripture Dharma Sindhu.
