The government has released the Internal Revenue Operation Strategy for the fiscal years 2081/82 to 2088/86.
The revenue operation strategy was prepared in coordination with the 16th periodic plan to improve the country’s tax system and administration, according to the Ministry of Finance.
This strategy balances socio-economic development, revenue needs, and the aspirations of the private sector and taxpayers.
The main objectives of this strategy are: promoting economic efficiency and equity, encouraging private sector investment, and ensuring a stable flow of both tax and non-tax revenue.
Maintaining stability in government finances and managing the deficit.
Increasing government revenue from internal sources.
Encouraging voluntary compliance by taxpayers with tax laws and operational systems.
Improving the risk management capacity in tax and customs administration.
Automating tax and customs administration processes.
Enhancing inter-governmental and inter-organizational coordination and cooperation for policy formulation and implementation.
The government aims to implement a tax system that includes all sources of income with progressive tax rates.
The strategic goal includes increasing the revenue-to-GDP ratio from 18.9% in the fiscal year 2079/80 to 23.5% by the end of the fiscal year 2085/86.
