Today, the Nepal Police apprehended former Minister of Koshi Province, Lila Ballav Adhikari, from his residence in connection with a case under the Human Trafficking and Smuggling Regulation Act.
Minister Adhikari assured three individuals that he would help them migrate to Japan and took money from them, promising to take them to Japan. However, the Japanese immigration authorities sent him back to Nepal along with the three victims from the Japanese airport.
Being accused of human trafficking and smuggling, Adhikari resigned from his post, and the CPM-UML also expelled him from the party membership.
